Lets Get Spooky Spicy!
Lots of Halloween-themed fun at this chilli festival with prizes our different categories – Adult, Couple. Child and Baby!
Skulls, flames, grim reapers – they are all images which abundantly adorn the chilli industry marketing landscape – and now they will have found a home at Briz Chilli Fest Halloween.
HELLFIRE ALLEY - TRICK OR TREAT!
A variety of delicious chilli condiments, sauces and other products will be available for you to try and then buy in the festival.
Every vendor will have some treats for the kids, so make sure you visit them all.
HALLOWEEN CHILLI CHALLENGES
For the bravehearts, a choice of four chilli challenges to set the stage on fire! This was our 2022 selection – bound to have some fun additions for 2024
Hell’s Bell’s Pod Eating Challenge -Mel O’Brien of Infusion Chilli Farm will oversee a complex series of pod and extract eating challenges with the last man/woman standing crowned the winner!
Otherworldly Wing Challenge– Endurance and capacity are key in this challenge involving some wicked wings by Adrian Zocaro of Firing Line Gourmet Chilli. Wings will just keep on being loaded onto contestant’s plates until the last person standing takes the crown!
Devil’s Marbles Challenge – Rob Dunn of Australian Extreme Chilli Condiments create some truly evil meatballs that will have you screaming for Mama!!
Pizza Capers Iinferno Challenge – eat as many pieces of pizza as you can in 5 minutes, laced with Reaper Fudge by Fudging Mad in Gympie – who will go the distance?
FOOD FOR EVERYONE
Our food vendors have a mandate to provide at least four chilli-themed offerings, as well as regular food , with a touch of Halloween fun.
Even our cold drinks and desserts will provide some chilli and Halloween theming.
JUST FOR THE KIDS
The free Spooky Space – a Halloween-themed area- is for children to enjoy some art and craft in a supervised space.
CHILLI PLANTS and GROWING ADVICE)
Melissa O’Brien of Infusion Chilli Farm at Redland Bay will be at the festival with 1001 chili seedlings and plants of all varieties. Mel is a fully-accredited grower, with sustainability and eco-friendly practices to her credit as well.
The first 500 online ticket holders will collect their chilli seedling from this stall (and check out some more advanced plants while you’re there!).
CELEBRITY GUEST CHEFS
Matt Golinski is a highly regarded, professional chef with a passion for creating cuisine using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.
Well known as one of the original team members of the popular ‘Ready Steady Cook’ television series, Matt has worked as executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants and founded his own catering company.
Based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Matt now enjoys working as a consulting chef to restaurants, being a regular guest chef at festivals and events and writing his popular food columns and blog. He is also an active member of the Slow Food movement and a motivational speaker.
Matt will prepare some chilli goodies on stage as well as conducting a 45 minute free workshop on cooking with spice. Visit his amazing website for mouth-watering recipes and updates.
Valerie Ferdinandz
Valerie is no stranger to spice, being of Indian heritage. She and daughter, Courtney, made it to the finals of MKR in 2014. Valerie is still passionate about food and especially chillies, and creates delicious food for her own family and lucky patrons at the
New Farm Bistro. Follow Valerie on Facebook.
Accompanying Matt Golinskin on stage for his presentation, Valerie adds her ethnic foodie touch to the proceedings and the pair will surely entertain patrons with their banter.
FREE WORKSHOPS IN THE WORKSHOP MARQUEE
Join Chef Matt Golinski as he guides you on a 45 minute journey on safe preparation with chillies when cooking. Refer to our program for the scheduled time.
Need help growing healthy chilli plants? Melissa O’Brien of Infusions Chilli Farm at Redland Bay is passionate about getting the most out of your plant investment and will run several “How to” workshops throughout the day. Just check the program closer to the time.
LIVE MUSIC
Great live music is always peppered in between the chilli challenges on stage. Once again, we have the guitar maestro, Sean Mullen, gracing our stage, playing some hot guitar (and even some Joe Satriani tunes). He’ll also be joined by Sandra Beynon on vocals.

DANCE PERFORMANCES
The beautiful girls from Brisbane Academy of Dance will spice up the day with some great performances to recorded and live music. They’ll also be helping our brave chilli challenge contestants get through the pain and on to the glory – you’ve got to love a great cheer-leading team! Check the program for other dance troupes as they’re added!
CREEPY CHARACTERS
The girls will also be roaming around in costume to add a little extra spice and spookiiness to the day!
THE AFTERBURN BAR
Relax in our chilli-themed bar and enjoy a selection of Halloween and chilli-themed cocktails, chilli beer, chilli sangria, as well as regular beverages.
We’ll even have some French Champagne on hand for the luxe lovers!

OUR CHARITY PARTNER - LIL BUG LOVE
Lil Bug Love is a Logan-based community organisation which supports children who find themselves caught up in domestic violence matters at Police stations in South-East Queensland.
Volunteers help create the contents of the Comfort Kits which are then distributed to as many Police stations as possible.
Cindy Barden and her daughter Phoebe are committed to easing the trauma of domestic violence and need your help to allow them to keep their important work going. You can donate here.
