Logan Chilli & Rum Festival is born!

Date Published: 15/01/2024

Chillogan is now in its fifth year and organisers have decided to add a new dimension to Logan’s favourite and only eponymous food festival.

Chillogan Chilli and Rum Festival will be born on Sunday 2nd June at the spacious Vietnam Veterans Social Motorcycle Clubhouse at Meakin Road, Kingston.

“I wanted to be able to include another iconic Logan brand and we are in talks with Beenleigh Artisan Distillery to come on board as a festival collaborator,” said organiser Scarlett Habanero.

“My festivals have always been about community engagement and this will be a continuation of that vision,” she said.

“We’re super excited to be hosting Scarlett’s event here at the Vets, and look forward to helping bring her vision to reality,” said spokesman Matt Woo.

As usual, there will be a jam-packed program of challenges with chill, but look out for an extra “rummy” challenge for a bit of fun.

Of course, kids are always free to attend (4-14 years) and this year’s entry fee again includes a free chilli plant and a free copy of “Homecooked Food for Babies & Toddlers: A Simple Guide” by local author Sandra Beynon.

What do you get for your ticket price, is always a question asked?

“Well, for starters is about the cost of a large coffee and a croissant at most food outlets these days.  So, that’s over in 15 minutes. We offer an 8 hour program of community fun, food trucks, live music, chilli product tasting, rum tastings, cooking demonstrations, kids activities, car and motorcycle displays, and more local community group displays to be announced as they sign on,” said Ms Habanero.

“We all know the cost of living has increased greatly in the past 12 months, and we believe that $15 represents great value for a day of entertainment, themed decoration, community engagement, food and drinks for all,” she said.

Just remember that coffee and croissant and then decide how to better spend $15 – supporting a local festival organiser, supporting the Vets, and being part of your local community.

Tickets can be pre-purchased online (for a fast flow into the festival) or at the gate with EFTPOS or discount for cash!
