In the event landscape, it’s great to have a unique concept and they don’t come much more unique than a combined Chilli and Halloween festival.
That’s just what’s happening at Rocklea Showgrounds this Halloween, 31st October, from 10am to 8pm.
With a dedicated Kids Spooky Forest, and great Halloween theming throughout the event, including vendors, it’s bound to be a whole lot of fun.
Generously sponsored by the Brisbane City Council, the event will be in its third year, and is a world first as a combined chilli and halloween event.
Of course one should come dressed in Halloween costume, as there will be prizes for different categories, even your furry pal.
All vendors will be offering “treats” for Under 12s who come around “trick or treating”, and there will be great Halloween specials for everyone in Hellfire Alley.
Our charity this year is Radio Lollipop who will receive 10% of net ticket sales, as well as receive funds from raffles and auctions on the day.
There will of course be a number of great chilli challenges on centre stage together with some ethnic dance performances across the chilli-loving cultures..
Brisbane Academy of Dance, based in Stafford, will again be joining us to cheer on our chilli challengers, but also to showcase some great dance performances with a Halloween theme. The girls are always a wonderful addition to the events and audiences love their enthusiasm and original war-cries.
Organiser, Scarlett Habanero, of My Chilli Festival, is super excited to be hosting the event at the convenient location of Rocklea Showgrounds.
“There is so much room to spread out, really great amenities and some nice spaces which we can convert to our use,” said Ms Habanero.
The Rocklea State School has been tasked with creating the installations for the Spooky Forest kids’ indoor themed area.
“We are super excited to be partnering with an event in our own backyard. We are a very small school and keen to put our footprint out there, “said principal, Julia.
